In Indian Ayurvedic medicine, gotu kola is known by many names, including
brahmi, which means
bringing the knowledge of Brahman,
and used to improve mental clarity and memory, especially in the elderly. It is one of those herbs that is tri-doshic or brings balance to all three of the Ayurvedic body types, vata, pitta, and kapha.
The Chinese have used gotu kola to treat fever and respiratory ailments, whilst Americans have used it to treat skin problems in the 19th century.

Bring filtered or spring water to 212°F. Add 1 tsp of tea leaves to an 8oz cup. Pour boiling water over the tea leaves and let steep 7 minutes.
