Anise seed has a strong licorice-like flavor and scent. When brewed in hot water, anise seeds can be used to treat an upset stomach, intestinal gas and as a cough expectorant.
It is harvested from the fruit of an annual herb of the parsley family native to the eastern Mediterranean region and Southwest Asia.

Bring filtered or spring water to 212°F. Add 0.5 tsp of tea leaves to an 8oz cup. Pour boiling water over the tea leaves and let steep 7 minutes.
