This Dark tea from Hunan province of China, is medium to full bodied, very smooth, with a delicious dusty rose flavor and aroma. Contains dark tea and rose petals. Comes in approximately 5 gram pressed tea pieces. Use one in a mug and steep a short time (one minute), or use one in a larger pot (12-20 oz.) and steep a longer time (2-3 min.)

Extra Info:

When the leaves are picked, they are fried, kneaded and twisted, but instead of being dried as Green Tea is, the leaves are sprinkled with water and placed in huge piles under cloth to ferment before being dried. The resulting leaves have a dark black color, giving this category of tea its name. The fermentation process is extremely exacting and a closely guarded secret. Only a Tea Master after decades of study is considered good enough to produce this tea.

One ounce is approximately 6-7 hearts.

Brewing Instructions:

Bring filtered or spring water to 190°F. Add 1 piece of tea leaves to an 8oz cup. Pour boiling water over the tea leaves and let steep 1 minutes.

Ingredients:

  • Dark tea, rose petals

Origin:

Hunan, China

Reviews:

I don't know how I've made it this far in life without this beautiful tea. The taste of roses is perfectly balanced with the dark tea. I could drink it all day long.

This tea, is not actually a Pu-erh, it belongs to a branch of Dark Teas, or Fermented Teas, its name is Hei Cha, so it has not the same sensorial profile than a pu-erh

The first steeping was fairly light and of medium quality. Not rich, dark, or earthy like most Pu Erh's are; the floral rose flavors were stronger than the Pu Erh. Second brewing was darker and so intensely bitter that I could not finish it. The rose flavor increased the bitterness and made it more unpleasant.

Super yum, in a category all it's own. Easy to make, bold rich. Highly recommend, just use the amount of water to suit taste. 16oz is a great morning brew.
