Cardamom has a strong, unique taste, with an intensely aromatic, resinous fragrance. It is a common ingredient in Indian cooking and is often used in baking in the Nordic countries, in particular in Sweden and Finland, where it is used in traditional treats such as Finnish sweet bread pulla and in the Scandinavian Christmas bread Julekake.

In the Middle East, green cardamom powder is used as a spice for sweet dishes, as well as traditional flavoring in coffee and tea.

We use these to blend our Masala Chai | Organic, Cardamom Black, and Chai Spice Mix | Organic

Extra Info:

It is easy to understand why cardamom is sometimes called the "queen of spices". Bite open a pod - the flavor will fill your mouth and a warm sensation will spread throughout your body. Cardamom is a cooking staple in many Eastern countries and is second only to black pepper in terms of usage worldwide.

The first historical mention of cardamom dates to the 4th century BC in the writings of Greek Physician Theophrastus who claimed the pods had medicinal value. Modern usage of the spice however stems from the cultures of southern India. The people there held the spice in such high regard that they used it as an offering to the gods during religious ceremonies.
