The tea liquor is bright red in color and exhibits a gentle honey aroma and offers a sweet, smooth taste. When viewed from a distance, the golden tips appear bright orange in color.

This Yunnan black (Dianhong) tea is a type of Chinese black tea, and is a high end gourmet black tea. The main difference between Dianhong and other Chinese black teas is the amount of fine leaf buds, or "golden tips," present in the dried tea.

Extra Info:

Teas grown in the Yunnan Province of China prior to the Han dynasty were typically exported in a compressed form similar to modern pu-erh tea. Dian hong is a relatively new product from Yunnan that began production in the early 20th century. The word "Diān" (滇) is the short name for the Yunnan region while "h—ng" (紅) means "red (tea)"; as such, these teas are sometimes simply referred to as Yunnan red or Yunnan black.

Brewing Instructions:

Bring filtered or spring water to 212°F. Add 1.5 tsp of tea leaves to an 8oz cup. Pour boiling water over the tea leaves and let steep 4 minutes.

Ingredients:

  • Organic Black tea

Origin:

Yunnan, China

Yunnan Gold Tea: A sophisticated tea; a tea that captures the ambiance of that sweet smell related to vintage books. A perfect mood with your afternoon reading. This is truly a remarkable and unique experience at the highest level.

Chocolate Malt! Absolutely exquisite taste. I've been purchasing pounds of it on a monthly basis from NMTC. I'd also like to express the excellent customer service and prompt shipping along with a free sample makes NMTC my go to supplier for fine teas!

I'm usually not a black tea guy, preferring greens and oolongs, but I love this black tea! It doesnt have a very bitter flavor like many other black teas, which i love. But the biggest surprise is that it has a very light honey flavor! I buy organic B's Honey, and it has a very similar flavor (sweetness aside) to this tea. As a honey lover, i love this tea.

This is just wonderful. Lovely and malty with hints of cocoa. Strong and very smooth. A beautiful tea in both appearance and taste. Both glad and dismayed that I asked for this as my sample with my last order. Glad because it can easily become a staple. Dismayed because it should easily become a staple. :) At least with free shipping I can order this soon and not feel bad about making yet another tea order!

I am relatively new to loose leaf tea and received Yunnan Gold as a sample. This is by far my favorite tea, it is moderately strong yet simple in flavor. There is a very unique taste to this tea that I cannot describe as anything other than earthy as Kelly has described.

I literally couldn't wait to try this after I bought it today. For those familiar with Verdant Tea's discontinued Golden Bud, look no farther because here it is. It is so sweet and smooth, I didn't realize how much I was missing a good quality Dianhong until I had this. I would advise get some while it is still in stock, since it will sell quickly.

This is one of my favorite teas. It is full bodied but not overbearing.

This tea surprised me with its delicate but robust flavors. The tea steeps well without becoming over-brewed. It has the earthy tastes of a fine pu'er but doesn't taste charred or bitter.
