Huo Shan Huang Ya, also known as Yellow Sprout, is a rare and esteemed yellow tea once reserved as an Imperial tribute during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Thought to have been lost for centuries, its unique processing method was rediscovered in the 1970s, and since then, it has been sent as tribute to many great leaders of China every year. This prized tea is known for its tender leaves and sweet, gentle flavors.

Brewing Instructions:

Bring filtered or spring water to 175°F. Add 1-2 tsp of tea leaves to an 8oz cup. Pour boiling water over the tea leaves and let steep 4 minutes.

I really enjoy the hints of cardamom in this tea. It’s a very good hot tea but I enjoy it even more as an iced tea. It’s become one of my go to summer teas.
