It is believed that the first instance of the mixing of dried hibiscus petals and pomegranate took place in the harbor of HangaRoa, the capital of Rapa Nui, otherwise known as Easter Island, when Jesuit missionaries brought pomegranates to the island from South America.
Bring filtered or spring water to 180°F. Add 1 tsp of tea leaves to an 8oz cup. Pour boiling water over the tea leaves and let steep 3 minutes.
