Whether it be a first cup in the morning, or a cup to combat an afternoon slump, this energizing Mate is perfect. Packed with mango pieces and ginseng, it will get you bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.
In South America roasted mate, known as "mate cocido" in Paraguay or "chimarrão mate" in Brazil is served sweetened, either hot or iced, with fruit juice or milk. The toasted variety of mate has less of a bitter flavor and more of a spicy fragrance. When shaken it becomes creamy (since the formed foam gets well mixed and lasts for some time), known as mate batido and it is more popular in the coastal cities of Brazil.
Bring filtered or spring water to 180°F. Add 1 tsp of tea leaves to an 8oz cup. Pour boiling water over the tea leaves and let steep 5 minutes.
