This organic formula is an involved recipe. The cup brews root and spice forward: earthy, with the peppermint and orange peel in the background. Juniper berry, parsley root, and goldenrod are among the herbs. As an herb blend, there is no caffeine to worry about.
We have a sibling blendLiver & Gallbladder Detox which targets different organs.
Four ingredients carry stories of their own. Uva ursi is Latin for the bear's grape, and bears do eat the berries. Marshmallow root is the marshmallow: the candy was first thickened with this root, before gelatin took over. Horsetail is the scouring rush; its silica-rich stems once scoured pots and polished pewter. Hydrangea is Greek for water vessel, after seed capsules shaped like little pitchers.
Bring filtered or spring water to 212°F. Add 1 tsp of tea leaves to an 8oz cup. Pour boiling water over the tea leaves and let steep 7 minutes.
For a stronger pot, boil the herbs directly on the stovetop instead of steeping them.
