Honeybush tea is caffeine free, high in antioxidants, and has a wonderfully sweet, very slightly astringent flavor with overtones of honey - the overall flavor is unique and has been compared to hot apricot jam or a dried fruit mix.

Extra Info:

Honeybush is native to the Cederberg District (the Eastern Cape) of South Africa. Dutch botanical records from the area make mention of Honeybush consumption as far back as the mid to late 1600's. The first mention of the consumption of Honeybush as a caffeine free tea substitute outside of South Africa however appeared almost 200 years later.

A pharmacological handbook published in the US in 1898 entitled "King's American Dispensary of 1898," makes mention, under the heading "Tea," of Honeybush as an acceptable tea substitute manufactured in the Cape Colony of South Africa.

Brewing Instructions:

Bring filtered or spring water to 212°F. Add 1 tsp of tea leaves to an 8oz cup. Pour boiling water over the tea leaves and let steep 5 minutes.

Ingredients:

  • Organic Honeybush

Origin:

South Africa

Reviews:

The smell is intoxicating - honey and, maybe a red tea of some sort? It’s heavenly. The steep is a much more delicate taste, but I imagine if it were concentrated it would be out of this world. Good add to any tea regardless.

A good friend who lives in New Mexico and is a client of yours introduced us to Honeybush Tea. It is delicious and my husband, an inveterate tea drinker, loves it. Mellow, naturally sweet and caffeine-free. What’s not to like!

This tea got me addicted to honeybush! Rich and full mouthfeel, almost like warm honeyed milk (though the tastes aren't that similar unless you put milk in it, which would be weird since this is herbal tea). Tastes almost like a weak black tea with honey - perhaps it would blend well with black? Definitely going to order more of this when I run out.
