Fun fact: the hazelnut, or filbert, is the state nut of Oregon, and is a rather hardy tree as the hazelnut plant flowers and pollinates mid-winter, producing the nuts in June.
During the Revolutionary War, General George Washington sent guards to protect the first commercial nursery in the Colonies that contained and help propagate the filbert tree in North America.
Bring filtered or spring water to 212°F. Add 1 tsp of tea leaves to an 8oz cup. Pour boiling water over the tea leaves and let steep 4 minutes.
