When the West became introduced to the plant, the herb was shown to help stimulate blood flow to the brain and improve the overall brain health of individuals with Alzheimer's, though it does not prevent the disease.
Interesting fact: Ginkgo trees in Hiroshima, Japan survived the atomic blast and are still alive today!
