Double wall provides a layer of insulation, which keep your beverage hot (or cold!) and your hands comfortable. Well-tempered glass can withstand both high and low temperatures. Note that going from one extreme temperature to another can break a glass with thermal shock. To avoid this, rinse with lukewarm water before switching to a different extreme.
