With a nutty, roasted, flavor and sweet undertones, this oolong is a cut above our Wuyi Rock oolong, being the most intense oolong we carry. This is not surprising given the name translation of Da Hong Pao - Big Red Robe. This tea is grown in the WuYi Mountains of the Fujian Province, where the warm moisture and high elevation is perfect for producing this delightful Oolong.
If you've heard WuYi tea in reference to weight loss, that's because it is packed with powerful antioxidants and polyphenols, which some believe promote healthy weight loss.
The shape and taste of this brewed tea will change with each year's harvest. We recommend that if you have not tried this tea in several months since last ordering, it is best to re-order a smaller amount to confirm that the latest batch is to your taste. Oolong teas are best enjoyed when the leaves are briefly infused with hot water, which is then poured off. The tea is then re-infused and poured to the guests after about 1 minute. The leaves may be re-infused several times, with each resulting infusion yielding different liquor from the proceeding cup.
Bring filtered or spring water to 185°F. Add 1.5 tsp of tea leaves to an 8oz cup. Pour boiling water over the tea leaves and let steep 3 minutes.
